What is the ILC?
Focusing on Learning
We believe that all students can learn given the instruction and opportunities appropriate to their needs.
Our School has, at its core, a strong Christian ethos whereby it values each student, nurtures and respects each student’s individuality and strives to provide the very best learning environment for each. As such, its reputation as a caring, nurturing school has spread, and the School is being sought out by parents whose child has specific learning needs. This is a truly admirable mission to have, and one that the School takes pride in.
The education we offer always ensures that the School is inclusive and the curriculum is accessible to all. Staff is committed to continually developing the School's capacity to accommodate the full range of individual differences among its students striving to maximise the potential of individuals spanning the academic, social and emotional realms.
The Independent Learning Centre (ILC) plays a vital role at St Andrew’s Cathedral School. Through the collaborative planning process key teachers, parents, staff and where possible, outside relevant professionals, work together to establish teaching and learning strategies that facilitate student access and participation in the life of the School. Student’s needs are diverse and never stagnant therefore responding to them means new initiatives are continually being created ensuring flexible and responsive support service delivery.
The ILC has been structured into two departments working collaboratively to support staff and students.
