Year 7 Gallery
Painting Studio
Students will study the traditional skills of still life drawing and painting. Each student will create a range of drawings, watercolour paintings and complete a small oil painting on canvas. In Art History & Criticism they will study the art and life of French Impressionist Paul Cezanne who significantly influenced many artists of the 20th Century, namely Pablo Picasso. His still life paintings are such a delight to study and appreciate.
Digital Studio
In the newly established Digital Studio, year 7 students have been busy exploring the strange world of the artist Man Ray. The students have each created a series of digital “rayographs”, experimental abstract works created without a camera. Using high end professional software, students have transformed every day objects into beautiful and mysterious works of art.
Sculpture Studio
Sculpture Studio will introduce students to fundamental aesthetic elements of three-dimensional sculptural space. Students will learn about the contemporary art practice of sculptural installation, studying many contemporary artists, Australian & International. Their primary focus will be on photographing a self-devised installation of a range of 'still life' objects. Students will actively participate in interpreting an arrangement of objects which will culminate with students producing and photographing their own sculptural installations.
