Association of Parents and Friends
The Association of Parents and Friends of St Andrew's comprises parents and guardians who plan and undertake programmes and events to build a stronger School community and to conduct programmes that raise ancillary funds to support the School's educational developments for all students.
The Association's role in fostering a greater sense of community is vital at St Andrew's as the School draws its students from a wide geographical spread across over 200 Sydney postcodes. This presents challenges to establish meaningful parent links across years and within class groups.
The Association conducts a number of events each year to raise funds for educational items and sporting, cultural, musical and ancillary equipment and services. The Association supports the Head of School and staff in matters relating to the welfare of students and their educational requirements. It monitors the School Canteen to ensure nutritional food is sold at competitive prices for all students.
The Association of the P&F coordinates certain fundraising events including Carnevale plus numerous functions such as the St Andrew's Dinner Dance, Mother's Day and Father's Day Breakfast, Kirrikee Picnic Day and other gatherings. Regular meetings are held during term where parents can exchange information on new or changing educational developments given by staff or external presenters or where personal development matters and parenting issues are discussed and shared.
To promote greater community spirit the Association of the P&F supports year group functions organised by parent convenors representing each cohort Year. These gatherings provide opportunities for parents to meet informally, to develop friendships and to link with other year families whose sons or daughters have built friendships at School. All parents are encouraged to pay a small annual membership fee to the Association to offset administrative costs.
