St Andrew’s Cathedral School

Debating

Debating is an important extra curricular activity at St Andrew’s Cathedral School, with a long tradition.

During Term 1, St Andrew’s takes part in the Independent Schools Debating Association (ISDA) competition. In Term 2 we conduct a number of invitational debates and in Term 3 we conduct the House Debating Competition, with points counting towards the fiercely contested Dean Pitt Shield. In Term 4, we conduct further invitational debates. SACS is also involved in a number of the university schools competitions, including (but not limited to) The University of Sydney Schools Debating Competition and the Macquarie University Schools Cup. This year we had some outstanding debaters who received special mention. St Andrew’s also conducts Staff versus Student debates each Term, which provide much hilarity for all.

The Friends of Debating @ SACS

A new and exciting parents and supporters group!

This year we will also be holding our first meeting of the Friends of Debating @ SACS. This will take the form of a Wine and Cheese Evening for parents, grandparents, staff and friends who would like to become involved in debating at St Andrew’s. This gala event will take place very early in Term 4.

We value the enormous contribution that parents and friends make to the wider School community and would love to have you more involved in supporting the St Andrew’s Debating Society.
