Caring For Students

St Andrew’s Cathedral School is a place where assemblies are gatherings, your cohort is your community and you are known and valued.

Learning Requires Caring

At St Andrew’s Cathedral School we foster an atmosphere of caring , both in and out of the classroom. Our staff make the effort to know each student by name. Conduct in our classrooms is founded on co-operation, caring, helping, encouragement and support. This attitude allows students to grow and learn, not only academically, but to become rounded individuals who behave responsibly and ethically in everything they do.

An education at St Andrew’s includes learning the essential life skills such as:

• Knowing oneself and others by understanding our feelings
• Recognising our strengths and developing positive qualities
• Making responsible and ethical decisions
• Have the ability to set life goals and plan to achieve them
• Creative problem solving
• Showing care and empathy for others

Life with Heart Programmes – Serve, Speak, Give

St Andrew’s Cathedral School has a strong focus on community service through our Life with Heart  programmes. Students gain a range of positive experiences by active participation (serve), being advocates for (speak) and fundraising activities (give) with charities and community service projects. These programmes form an integral part of the Christian learning at the School.

Pastoral Care

The atmosphere of caring for students is further strengthened by the pastoral care  structure within the School. SACS has a range of services available to students to help them deal with many of the challenges faced by young people.

The Resilience Programme  is aimed at guiding students through a range of issues to help them grow emotionally and succeed academically.

Student Leadership

St Andrew’s has a number of leadership programmes  to engage students and foster leadership at all age groups, under the philosophy that everyone can be a leader. The leadership programmes span Junior and Middle Schools and Senior College and give all students the opportunity to learn leadership skills.
