Elite Sport and Fitness Programmes

With the help of the Parents & Friends Association, SACS has recently redeveloped their Strength and Conditioning Centre in the gym.  With these additional facilities in place, the Sports Department has implemented the Long Term Athlete Development Programme (LTADP).

Long Athlete Development Programme

The LTADP is one of the key components of our sporting programme, where students who demonstrate ability within the sporting arena are offered the opportunity to work in a smaller, more focused group. Sport-specific programmes are developed for each of them to assist with fitness, strength, diet, academic outcomes and skill development.

Developing future sporting stars

Run by Ms Annie Stalley (herself a former St Andrew’s student and former Captain of Sport at the School), in collaboration with Head of Sport, Mr Michael Turton, the LTADP is designed to help identified sportspeople in the Secondary School to develop their sporting prowess for the future by designing tailored fitness programmes for these dedicated students.

Training and Guidance

The programme now caters for over 100 students from Years 7-12 and, under the mentorship of Mr Turton and Ms Stalley, participants are required to train under guidance at least twice a week, as well as participating in both a Winter and Summer Sport and, if possible, either Swimming or Athletics for the School.
