School Mission and Values

Vision

The St Andrew’s Cathedral School vision is to lead evangelical Anglican education, in a city location with a global focus, offering cradle to age learning.

Mission

Under God, St Andrew’s Cathedral School is committed to presenting Christ and nurturing individuals into a community of learning, in partnership with the Cathedral, engaging with the city, preparing to meet the world and the future.

Core Values

Seeking to honour and follow Jesus Christ, we will:

  • Depend on the Holy Spirit for wisdom and guidance, to act in conformity to the teaching of scripture as God’s word;
  • Exercise godly virtues such as grace, integrity and justice;
  • Emphasise the work of each person, individually and in community;
  • Strive to grow whole people (spiritually, intellectually, physically, in creative expression and in wisdom).

How we achieve this:

Developing the whole person

The central, spiritual aim of our School is relevant in every aspect of the student’s growth as a person, including his or her development in each of the following ways;

  • A maturity of spirit and a wholeness of physical, social and mental well being
  • Academic excellence and choice of  vocational opportunities
  • Wise and responsible decision making and ethical standards
  • Respect of human freedom and individuality
  • Unselfish service to others and response to human need

Creating a sense of community and lifelong learning

We stay strongly connected with the City by developing meaningful networks and partnerships, to embed our high standards of pastoral care in conjunction with the Cathedral, and to foster individual standards of excellence in lifelong learning. In engaging the future, our Christian world view aims at revealing a sense of optimism, outward looking and forward thinking for students to enable them to go into the future with confidence.

Being true to our values in everything we do

The Core Values of St Andrew’s are embedded into all aspects of the School. Our codes of conduct and policies of pastoral care are founded upon our commitment to the individual value of each student and their God given potential to grow and flourish. As a strongly relational school, treating others with grace, integrity and in a context of fairness and justice is fundamental to the way we seek to treat each other.
