St Andrew’s Cathedral School

Introduction

St Andrew’s Cathedral School is founded on the principals of Christian faith. We are dedicated to teaching and promoting the Christian Gospel. From our motto Via Crucis Via Lucis (the way of the cross is the way of light) to our vibrant Edge camp that takes place each year, Christianity permeates our culture to the delight of staff and students and to the glory of God.

To facilitate the teaching of Christian Education, the running of Chapel services, the coordination of volunteer Christian activities and to provide pastoral support to both staff and students in a busy and sometimes confusing school environment, our Christian Ministry team has grown from to six staff members in 2008. The Chaplaincy staff enjoy teaching from the Bible and forming relationships with staff and students modelled on the relationship that God offers freely to all people through the death and resurrection of Christ. A culture of grace is fostered at SACS as students learn and love learning in an environment that is centred on the grace of God.

Many students profess their Christian faith at School and are actively involved in the coordination and running of Christian events and groups throughout the school year. Students participate in Chapel bands, attend and run voluntary Christian gatherings, meet to pray and read the Bible and attend Christian camps. These are all vital experiences that teach crucial lessons to the students as they journey through school as followers of Jesus. The connections and relationships formed through Christian Ministry amongst the students at the School are a central part to school life.
