A Whole New World
On a sunny Thursday afternoon, parents poured into the Junior School of St Andrew’s and made their way, hand in hand with a child, into the busy, playful world of the open plan Kindergarten classrooms. The small figures whose tiny hands clung earnestly to those of their parents were of mixed emotion, some enthusiastic, some a little shy, but each one in for something extremely special, as they began their first Orientation Day for Kindergarten 2010.
For some parents, who already have a son or daughter at the school, the visit was familiar. For others, whose child was their first at SACS, it was a new opportunity to get to know other parents at the School and become familiar with the brightly decorated classrooms. The future students were able to get a feel for their new school, interact with their classmates and become comfortable with completing activities such as drawing, collage and group participation in the context of a classroom. Though they may not know it yet, each student will soon be commencing an exhilarating journey, as they develop their own unique skills and talents, from entry year level to graduation. We look forward to their first day next year!
