St Andrew’s Cathedral School

In The Swing of Things

Amidst the sea-salt sprinkled air of Manly’s beachfront, a brassy, triumphant reverberation emerges on an annual basis; sometimes restrained, other times exuberant, but at all times innately cool.

St Andrew’s is proud to have once again been accepted into Manly’s illustrious Jazz Festival, the longest running and largest Festival of its kind in Australia.

After making it through the audition process, the School’s Senior Big Band is set to join the ranks of industry greats such as multi instrumentalist James Morrison and legendary American saxophonist George Coleman Junior in the three day bonanza.

The 20-strong ensemble is comprised of students from Year 10 – 12 and rehearses weekly.

Band conductor Christian Watson is proud of their achievements.

“It’s a great opportunity to showcase the talents of our students. They have been working extremely hard all year for this”.

Now in its 32nd year, the Festival is known for its continual support of promising emergent musicians. St Andrew’s will appear on the Manly Council Chambers Forecourt Stage at 11am on Sunday the 4th October.

We encourage you to come along for a great day and support our students!
