December 19, 2018

Peter Gurrier-Jones (OA1987) is one of the top 50 finalists for the Global Teacher Prize. The annual prize acknowledges and celebrates the impact that exceptional teachers have around the globe, not only on their students but on their entire school communities. Congratulations Peter, Principal of The Hills School, one of only two Australian teachers to be finalists. Famed maths educator Eddie Woo, was one of the top 10 finalists for this same award. Peter’s father Rev Paul Gurrier-Jones is also an Old Andrean (OA1945).

In a recent Education HQ article, Gurrier-Jones said “it’s a sensational acknowledgement of the work and love of all teachers, support staff, families and community who help kids at The Hills School learn and succeed through challenging lives.

“I’m just ecstatic to be teaching these kids and to have the chance to share our school’s story with the world.”

The 2019 Global Teacher Prize will be awarded at the Global Education and Skills Forum in Dubai on 24 March.
