High Performance Athlete Development Programme (HPADP)

The High Performance Athlete Development Programme (HPADP) is an inclusive programme designed for student athletes who compete at a representative or elite level, who are committed to pursuing both with purpose and distinction. We recognise the extraordinary demands placed on young athletes navigating the pressures of high-level competition alongside a rigorous academic life.

Through a holistic and individually tailored approach, the HPADP is built around the development of each student as a whole person, equipping them with the expert support, professional networks, and personal foundations they need to flourish in sport, in the classroom, and beyond.

Performance Testing & Individualised Training

Each athlete undergoes comprehensive baseline strength and power testing using state-of-the-art equipment. Results directly inform a personalised training programme tailored to their sport, position, and individual profile, with regular follow-up testing to track progress and keep the programme continuously optimised.

Exclusive Gym Access

HPADP members have dedicated lunchtime access to the School’s Sports Centre, reserved exclusively for Programme participants and supervised by our qualified Strength & Conditioning staff. Shared sessions foster a culture of accountability and mutual support among the School’s high-performance community.

Small Group Mentoring

Regular small group mentoring sessions provide a confidential and supportive environment in which students can discuss workload management, wellbeing, performance challenges, and the broader pressures of balancing sport and school life. Every athlete is heard, not lost in a crowd.

Pastoral & Scheduling Support

The Programme works closely with academic staff to facilitate clear communication between the School, students, and their external coaches. This includes assessment rescheduling, approved leave for competition, and coordinated training load management, ensuring students can focus on performing at their best, knowing the adults in their corner are working together.

Performance Masterclasses

Students have access to sessions delivered by qualified professionals across sport nutrition, sport psychology, and industry pathways. Content is specifically designed for the student athlete: practical, evidence-based, and relevant to the unique demands of competing at a high level while at school.

Sporting Alumni Access

Athletes are connected with SACS sporting alumni through video masterclasses, live Q&A sessions, mentoring conversations, and in-person appearances. Alumni have included two-time Olympic Gold Medallist Malcolm Page OAM and international netball star Chelsea Pitman, with more voices from across the SACS sporting community.
