Community

With students and families coming to the school from over 230 suburbs, we make a special effort to find opportunities for you to meet other families, create friendships and partner with the school in your child’s education.

The St Andrew’s Cathedral School and Gawura communities are a warm, inclusive and vibrant network of current and former parents, teaching and non teaching staff, current students and Old Andreans.

Combined with surrounding businesses, church and cultural institutions, they greatly enhance the educational and community based experiences provided to our students.

Our wider community

At St Andrew’s Cathedral School we enjoy lifelong relationships with our community. Our parents are welcomed and supported by the Association of Parents and Friends. Our students (Andreans) graduate and become our Old Andreans, supported by their own Association. Our parents of graduates become our Hessians. All three groups contribute to our vibrant, friendly and caring community.

The Association of Parents and Friends is an energetic group of parents and guardians who are committed to building a strong school community and to raising ancillary funds to support our school and students. The P&F hold a number of community (friend-raising) and fundraising events throughout the year such as Welcome in the Square early in the year and the Christmas Rooftop Markets, that helps bring the year to a festive finale.

Through the P&F, Parent Convenors form informal groups within specific year groups to provide opportunities for our parents to meet and get to know each other. This is vital as our students and their families come to St Andrew’s from all points of the compass around Sydney. Click here for more information about parent convenors and how to reach the parent convenor for your year group.

Our alumni are represented by the Old Andreans Association which works actively to build connections between the School and our former students. The OAA manages its own Facebook and web page and regularly holds reunions and events for alumni.

The School Foundation was formed to assist in securing the financial future of the School. It actively supports fundraising for Gawura scholarships, the St Andrew’s Cathedral School Building Fund, and the Heath Bursary Fund. It works closely with the P&F, the OAA, and GPAC (Gawura Parent Group).

In whatever way you decide to become involved at St Andrew’s Cathedral School, we are looking forward to you becoming part of our community.
