St Andrew’s Cathedral School Internships offer trainee teachers the opportunity to gain paid work experience in a faith-filled and purpose-driven school alongside a highly engaged, collaborative team of teaching, support and operations staff.

We offer two avenues in which you can become a next generation teacher.
Tertiary Internships 2026
St Andrew’s Cathedral School offers Tertiary Internships which are paid positions, one-day-per-week, throughout school terms. This programme is tailored for current final year tertiary student who are enrolled in a Bachelor/ Masters education degree at any recognised Tertiary institution.
This programme has been designed to be completed around your final year of study including priority or approved leave for placements and give you the opportunity to be a part of the St Andrew’s Cathedral School community and to learn about teaching in a Christian school.
As a Tertiary Intern, you will be provided with:
- a dedicated Mentor Teacher
- collegial weekly Intern meetings, including devotionals, professional discussions about the development of teaching practice, and reflections on the progression of your individual teaching goals
- opportunities to attend St Andrew’s Cathedral School professional learning sessions, providing free access to valuable professional development
- support and oversight of the programme(s) is provided by the Deputy Head, Quality Teaching (K-12).

2026 Teaching Schools Alliance Sydney (TSAS) Programme
St Andrew’s Cathedral School is proud to be part of a collaborative alliance of eight schools dedicated to forging a new pathway in initial teacher education.
This initiative is in partnership with Alphacrucis University College, Australia’s largest Protestant-affiliated tertiary institution, along with the University of New England, one of Australia’s leading universities.
The TSAS programme is a unique approach to teacher formation. Modelled on the highly successful Clinical Teaching Model, this unique pathway provides practical teacher training that inducts a trainee into the art and craft of teaching, embedded within the values and ethos of the Teaching Schools Alliance Sydney schools.
- Work 1-day per week with a Mentor teacher.
- Full-time online and face-to-face.
- Shaped for a lifetime in transformative teaching.
