Our St Andrew’s Cathedral School Internship offers you the opportunity to gain paid work experience in a value-aligned and purpose-driven organisation with a highly engaged, passionate, collaborative team of teachers and support and operations staff.
Founded in 1885, St Andrew’s Cathedral School is an independent Anglican School, located in the heart of Sydney’s CBD. We are a K-12 school, with a diverse student body, drawn from over 234 suburbs across Sydney. Reflecting our Christian foundations, we are a strong and hopeful learning community that nurtures the individual strengths of each student in our care.
At St Andrew’s Cathedral School, we know – and value – the difference a great teacher can make. Our deeply committed, expert teachers build strong relationships with their students, focusing on the holistic development of both expertise and character. As an Intern, you will gain experience not only in teaching, but in applying this well-rounded approach to educating young people, guided by one of our highly practiced Mentor Teachers.
The Internship is one-day-per-week, throughout terms. The programme has been designed to be completed around your final year of study including approved leave for placements, to provide you with the opportunity to be a part of the St Andrew’s Cathedral School community and to learn about teaching in a Christian school. As an Intern, you will be provided with:
- a dedicated Mentor Teacher
- support and oversight of the programme(s) by the School Coordinator
- collegial weekly Intern meetings, including devotionals, professional discussions about the development of teaching practice, and reflections on the progression of your individual teaching goals.
