This week, Year 12 IBDP Visual Arts students exhibited their incredible artworks in the BBC Auditorium. Opening night was a huge success with parents, staff and friends all exploring the exhibition and studying the art pieces.
This exhibition is grounded in the aims of the IBDP Visual Arts Programme where students are encouraged to challenge their own creative and cultural expectations and boundaries. Additionally, it is a unique opportunity for them to be involved in the planning of their own exhibition in a gallery space, allowing their work to be shared with a real audience.
Elodie Jackson (Year 12 IB), whose exhibition captures the unique and delicate experience of childhood, says “this exhibition is reflective of my feelings as I graduate school and begin to see my life as an adult.”
The artworks are the product of nearly two years of studio practice and theoretical investigations between 2024 and 2025. Congratulations to these students on the brilliant work achieved.
The HSC Visual Arts Exhibition opens next week, with images to be shared after marking concludes in mid-November in accordance with NESA requirements. ... See MoreSee Less
Last Friday, we held our extraordinary MYP Personal Project Exhibition!
The Personal Project is a major self-directed, research project that each student undertakes during the completion of the MYP Programme. On display were cookbooks, crochet animals, surfboards, SACS-GTP, clothing, a student band, documentaries and more! After tirelessly working on their projects for over a year, our 181 Year 10 students did not disappoint.
This exhibition was a marvellous display of passion and a love of learning. Everyone who attended was impressed by the diversity of the projects, the talent of the year group and their potential to change the world around them.
A huge thanks to Ms Bindi Jarvis, Personal Project Coordinator and the many other supervisors for their hard work and dedicated support of the students.

Yesterday in the Middle School Assembly we officially launched the new St Andrew’s Cathedral School Recycling Hub.
With the knowledge that we can recycle 75% of our waste and that we only do recycle a small fraction of that, Ava and Alec Chakar, siblings in Year 8 and 9 set out to solve the problem. After pitching their idea to Head of School, Dr McGonigle, Deputy Head of School, Mr Swibel and, Property and Facilities Manager, Mr Parsons last year, they have now brought this wonderful initiative to life.
“Ava and Alec have been teaching us that recycling saves space, water, energy, biodiversity, money, air quality and trees. It just makes sense. Well done on championing your idea,” said Dr McGonigle.
Students at the special assembly heard from special guests Mr Jules Laurent, Programme Manager for Return and Earn from Environmental Education NSW, and Mr John Creighton, Director of the Australian Wildlife Society. Money generated from the Return and Earn programme will go towards our koala corridor fund at Kirrikee, the St Andrew’s Cathedral School Outdoor Education campus.
The Recycling Hub is situated on Level 4 of St Andrew’s House. Let’s all get involved by recycling our cans, bottles, eyeglasses, batteries, books, stationery and more.
Congratulations Ava and Alec, on having the courage to propose your idea, the perseverence to problem-solve it and the persistence to see it through! ... See MoreSee Less

He held this post from 2011 until his election as bishop in 2019.
Mark will assume his duties on 1 November, while continuing to be the Bishop of Canberra and Goulburn. After an initial term of six years, he could be re-elected for a further three years.

Well done Mark. Mark was a couple of years in front of me.
And I do remember him.
From the historic choir stalls of the Cathedral to a modern-day, international streaming platform, our School has a proud history of music education.
St Andrew’s Cathedral School was established as a Choral School in 1885 and music is central to the life of our School.
While the Cathedral Choir has an enduring reputation for developing quality vocalists, the School has also played a role in the development of many professional musicians over the years, including five of our current Year 12 students.
July was an exciting month for these budding musicians and their band Pay Grade. They had their first original single ‘Why Cry’ released on Spotify.
Pay Grade is made up of Liam Sullivan on vocals, Jesse Cordeiro and Ben McDermott on guitars, Ilija Enhuus on bass and Will Hodgson on drums.
We wish Pay Grade all the best in their creative endeavours – we are so proud of this achievement! ... See MoreSee Less
