What’s the best part about going to St Andrew’s Cathedral School for you?
For me, the best part about going to St Andrew’s Cathedral School has definitely been both the School culture and the people.
“The School has cultivated the perfect culture for people, just like me, who take a passionate interest in the arts.”
I am a very creative and expressive person, and the School has cultivated the perfect culture for people, just like me, who take a passionate interest in the arts. With such a developed and supported Performing Art Departments I felt right at home when I moved to the School at the start of Year 11.
What is your proudest achievement at the School so far?
My proudest achievement so far at St Andrew’s Cathedral School has been my deep dive into being involved in the community.
Despite joining in Year 11, I made the commitment to jump in head-first to everything the School had to offer. By the end of Term 1 in Year 11, I had signed up for the Drama Tour, applied for a leadership opportunity, commenced rehearsals for the Senior Production, made it onto the Theatre Sports Team, found myself in many incredible music ensembles and so much more! And over the course of the year that list just grew as I joined literally everything I possibly could.
You’re Drama captain. What does that involve?
As Drama Captain it’s my job to help promote and advocate for Drama and the Performing Arts. We’re so lucky at St Andrew’s Cathedral School to have such a dedicated and professional Performing Arts Department that strives to give students so many opportunities across all areas of Performing Arts.
As Drama Captain, I also encourage involvement in the various productions, curriculum Drama and Theatre Sports across all years.
Speaking and representing St Andrew’s Cathedral School at any opportunity and being visible and tangible to students in younger years continues to uphold that value of engagement in the community – especially being present in the Performing Arts sphere.
One key-way I do this is through the student run Instagram account that has been passed down to each Performing Arts Captain. This allows us the independence to promote and engage with the student body directly around the Performing Arts in a fun, authentic and engaging way through social media.
What’s been a highlight for you in terms of performances at the School. Why?
A highlight for me was the School’s production of Treasure Island in 2025. It was my first major production at the School, and it certainly lived up to the hype! I played the villain Long John Silver and had such an awesome time – from beginning, to the final show.
Being a part of a production with that many students and team of staff behind the scenes will be one of my most memorable opportunities at the School.
“I truly treasured the bond created within the cast and the opportunity to mentor and lead many of the younger students in the cast.”
More importantly though, I truly treasured the bond created within the cast and the opportunity to mentor and lead many of the younger students in the cast, and for many this was their first production. I was so proud of everything the cast and crew put into it, because it truly paid off and accumulated in six, PHENOMENAL shows!

If you think of yourself from the end of Primary School to now, how have you changed? Why do you think that is?
I think one big thing that has changed is my confidence and resilience, especially also since starting at St Andrew’s Cathedral School in Year 11.
My goal was to not lose a moment over Year 11 and 12, and to try everything I could, and soak up all opportunities on offer at School. I think one reason my confidence levels have changed is because I became surrounded by so many like-minded people and became immersed in places to connect really started to perform.
From taking Drama and Music in Year 5, these spheres in Performing Arts have both bolstered my confidence and helped build skills in problem solving and the values of persistence and hard work – which has really helped me grow.
This is where I’ve found my own passion of performing, and truly appreciating the joy to brings to those around!
What teachers have most inspired you?
I think the teachers that have most inspired me have been Ms Chakarovski and Mr Oshiro, my Drama and Music teachers.
Ms Chakarovski’s Drama class was the first class I had when I commenced at the School in Year 11. She helped me feel so very welcomed in the School, and pushed me to audition for the senior production, and certainly believed in me to apply for Drama Captain!
Mr Oshiro, whom I met over Year 11 during ensembles has also been gold, and he has really pushed me now as my Year 12 Music teacher. He has supported and fostered a growth in my capabilities further than I thought, he taught me about the pay-off of hard work and the value of determination which is something I will take with me well beyond my years at St Andrew’s Cathedral School.
Do you have a few lasting memories of St Andrew’s Cathedral School or a story you’d like to share?
On my first day at the School, no-one was shy of coming up and introducing themselves to me. This day was special because I was absolutely and reasonably nervous to be starting at a new School for Year 11. Turns out I certainly didn’t need to worry because halfway through day one I already felt right at home.
“Halfway through day one I already felt right at home.”
I specifically remember walking into my first drama class on that day where my whole class welcomed me straight away and I felt like I had found my people. I made my first true friends at the School with this class, but that was only the beginning.
The deep friendships I have made here will be my friends for lifetime, I hope. I am very proud that I have actually accomplished so much in my short time here, and it wouldn’t have been possible without the welcoming community of St Andrew’s Cathedral School.
It is a true testament to vibrant, rich and very special School that St Andrew’s Cathedral School is and its warm environment to support every student to be who they are and to achieve.
What do you hope to do next year and in your future?
As Year 12 is moving so fast and I contemplate my future beyond St Andrew’s Cathedral School , I hope to pursue a career in the Performing Arts, with a particular focus on acting and theatre.
I’m aiming to study at one of Australia’s top performing arts institutions such as VCA, WAAPA, NIDA or the Conservatorium, where I can develop my skills in acting, musical theatre, along with other areas of performance—because I truly love it all.
My ultimate dream is to perform for and create opportunities and experiences for people, especially in live theatre and musicals that will make memories.
