Over the past week, we were delighted to welcome the treasured grandparents of our Junior School, Gawura School, Middle School and Senior College students for our annual Grandparents' Day celebrations.
Across both events, grandparents enjoyed special assemblies featuring heartfelt student performances, morning tea hosted by our P&F, classroom visits and school tours, and the opportunity to spend meaningful time with their grandchildren. Junior School and Gawura School grandparents also enjoyed exploring the Book Fair together.
These celebrations are a wonderful reminder of the important role grandparents play in the lives of our students and our wider school community. It was a joy to see generations connecting, sharing stories and creating memories together.
Thank you to our dedicated P&F and parent volunteers for making both days such a success. And to all our grandparents, thank you for your wisdom, warmth, encouragement and unwaver-ing love. Your presence enriches our community, and we are grateful for all that you bring to the lives of our students.

Our parent workshop, Disrupting the Manosphere, sparked powerful conversations and meaningful reflection among parents and caregivers last week.
Facilitated by Tomorrow Man and Tomorrow Woman, the session explored the growing influence of online content and cultural narratives shaping young people's understanding of identity, relationships and respect.
Together, attendees unpacked the challenges facing young people in today's digital world while exploring practical ways to foster empathy, critical thinking and respectful relationships at home.
Thank you to Tomorrow Man and Tomorrow Woman for delivering such an engaging and thought-provoking workshop, and to all parents and caregivers who joined us for this important conversation.
🎤✨ What an incredible afternoon at SACS Factor 2026!
Last Thursday, our students took to the stage with outstanding performances that showcased the talent, creativity and House spirit that make our School community so special.
Beyond the music and entertainment, SACS Factor also provided an opportunity to make a meaningful difference. Through this year's People's Choice Award fundraising initiative, our community raised more than $8,000 in support of South Sydney Anglican Church and its One4Life programme, which provides weekly food distribution, community barbecues and practical support for those in need.
We were privileged to welcome Pastor Matt Johnson, who attended the performances and spoke with students about the impact of the church's outreach programmes. Many of our students also volunteer with South Sydney Anglican Church, helping to run its community meal service.
Congratulations to Canterbury House, who won the SACS Factor competition and York House, who raised the most funds, claiming this year's People's Choice Award!
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated, supported their House and cheered on our performers. Most importantly, thank you to every student who took to the stage and helped make SACS Factor another unforgettable celebration of talent, generosity and service.
During Reconciliation Week, students across Gawura School and the Junior School have been reflecting on the importance of truth-telling, understanding and respect as they participated in the All In For Reconciliation initiative.
Our students shared thoughtful and heartfelt reflections, demonstrating a deep engagement with the themes of reconciliation and learning about the experiences of the Stolen Generations. Their words reveal compassion, empathy and a commitment to building a more inclusive future.
Meanwhile, our K–2 students have been creating footprint artworks, symbolising the steps we can all take towards reconciliation.
We are proud of the way our students have embraced this important week, learning from the past and considering how they can contribute to a future built on respect, understanding and unity. ... See MoreSee Less
Swap a coin, take a story (and maybe a cupcake too!)
Last week's Great Book Swap was a wonderful success. Students and staff came together to swap books, support Indigenous literacy and celebrate the joy of reading, all while raising funds for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation (ILF).
Thanks to the generous book donations from our community, we offered a wide selection for every reader. We also held a delicious bake sale alongside the swap, adding extra fun (and frosting) to the day, all in support of a great cause.
Every gold coin raised, whether through books or baked goods, goes directly to the ILF, helping provide culturally relevant books to children in remote Indigenous communities.
A huge thank you to everyone who donated, bought books, baked treats or contributed online. Your support makes a real difference in bringing literacy resources to where they are needed most. ... See MoreSee Less
This semester, Year 5 students have been leading an inspiring recycling initiative that is helping create a greener future while raising funds for the Gawura School community.
Known as the Eco Enthusiasts, students from 5 Coodyee have encouraged their peers to collect eligible drink containers through the NSW Return and Earn scheme, with every container contributing 10 cents towards Gawura School. Along the way, they have written persuasive letters, delivered weekly announcements, celebrated recycling champions and inspired classrooms across the Junior School to get involved.
Their efforts have now been recognised through a partnership with TOMRA Cleanaway, which will provide collection bins, signage and collection services at no cost to the School as part of its Return and Earn Schools Programme.
From creatively named classroom tubs such as Bin Diesel, Bindiana Jones and Binonce: All the Single Bottles, to student-led campaigns promoting sustainability and reducing waste, this initiative has shown the power of young people to drive meaningful change.
Congratulations to the Eco Enthusiasts and the students of 5 Coodyee for their leadership, creativity and commitment to making a difference, one bottle at a time. 💚♻️ ... See MoreSee Less
Exploring possibilities, making connections and thinking about the future.
Yesterday, St Andrew's Cathedral School students attended the Sydney Schools Careers Convention, where they engaged with representatives from universities, industry organisations, gap year providers and a wide range of professions.
With more than 100 exhibitors and 150 professionals sharing insights and advice, students had the opportunity to explore pathways beyond school and gain a deeper understanding of the opportunities available to them in a rapidly changing world.
The convention reflects the School’s commitment to preparing students for life beyond St Andrew's, complementing initiatives such as our Responsible Futuring series, which connects students with leaders and innovators across a range of industries.

Outstanding achievement from our Economics students!
A team of St Andrew’s students has been crowned the winner of the 2026 Australian Monetary Policy Challenge, held at Citi Bank last Friday.
After qualifying in the top five from a field of 40 school teams, Oliver O (Year 12), Zachary L (Year 12), Aiden H (Year 12), Lavender C (Year 11) and Max W (Year 11) impressed the judging panel with their presentation and economic analysis.
Students were tasked with answering a complex real-world question: if they were members of the Monetary Policy Board, what would they set the official cash rate at the next meeting?
The team delivered an eight-minute presentation before responding to questions from a panel that included Citi's Chief Financial Officer, ultimately securing first place.
Congratulations to our students on this outstanding accomplishment and thank you to Ms Chen Tan and Mr Jason Po for their guidance and support. ... See MoreSee Less
