Where disciplines meet, creativity thrivesThis week, our Year 7–10 students immersed themselves in two action-packed Interdisciplinary Unit Days – a highlight of the Middle Years Programme that brings learning to life by blending knowledge across multiple subjects.Across the two days, students stepped beyond the classroom to tackle authentic, real-world challenges through collaboration, design thinking and creativity. From languages meeting the arts, to science intersecting with the humanities, each year group explored how different disciplines work together to spark innovative solutions and meaningful action.Students reflected on the Character Strengths that guided their work – being Communicative, Inquiring, Open-minded and Principled – as they presented their ideas, performances and prototypes to peers and staff and guests.A huge thank you to our dedicated teachers and guest contributors for shaping such a rich learning experience, and to our students for the passion and curiosity they brought to every moment.

Two weeks of service. A lifetime of impact. From 10–21 November, our Year 10 students stepped beyond the classroom and into the heart of our community. Each day invited them into a different expression of service – early mornings preparing and serving breakfasts at Street T, supporting the Cathedral’s Community Hub, learning from partner organisations about how to best serve our homeless communities and spending time on Urban Walks that helped them better understand the realities many people face in our city.Back at School, students worked together on creative service projects, from knitting and writing Christmas cards to preparing personal notes for the families who would later receive our Anglicare hampers. They supported Gawura School students in literacy and numeracy, reflected on empathy and leadership in peer support sessions and helped drive fundraising and the clothing collection that contributed to our Christmas outreach. The programme culminated in our annual partnership with Anglicare for Operation Principled, where Year 10 transformed the BBC Auditorium into a warehouse and packed 200 Christmas food hampers with care and purpose. It was a hands-on reminder that service is not abstract – it is practical, thoughtful and grounded in seeing the needs of others.Across the fortnight, our students showed maturity, empathy and a genuine desire to contribute. Their efforts supported families across Sydney, strengthened community connections and reflected the heart of Life Giving Learning that sits at the centre of our School. We are incredibly proud of Year 10, not just for the work they completed, but for the spirit in which they served.Photos taken by Emma Doenicke (Year 10)

A celebration of creativity and inspiration
Our Junior School and Gawura School students amazed our community last week at the annual K–6 Music and Art Showcase – a vibrant celebration of artistic expression and musical excellence.
Held over two days, the event combined the best of both worlds: a stunning art exhibition in Chapter House and an enchanting music concert in St Andrew’s Cathedral. From vibrant visual displays to captivating musical performances, this annual celebration highlighted the extraordinary achievements of our young artists and musicians.
On Friday afternoon, students were privileged to hear from renowned Australian landscape photographer Ken Duncan, who shared insights into his craft, answered questions from our Art Captains and announced the art show winners. His presence was an inspiring reminder of the calibre of professionals our students are exposed to through authentic learning experiences.
Our sincere thanks to Mrs Kate Robertson (Head of Music K–6) and Mrs Miriam Daly (Visual Arts Integrator Junior School and Gawura School) for leading this exceptional event, and to all staff and students for their creativity, courage and commitment.
We look forward to celebrating the arts with our community again next year.
