St Andrew’s Cathedral School has been recognised by The Educator for a culture of innovation that puts students first, empowering agency and voice, real-world inquiry through the IB, thoughtful use of technology, strong community partnerships and a rich co-curricular life that builds character.
As Sydney’s city school in our 140th year, we’re proud to blend tradition and forward thinking.
Thank you to our staff, students and families for the ideas, care and excellence that made this recognition possible.
Best school I could ever have hoped to attend. Treated every student as a an individual not a collective and always concerned about their welfare and spiritual wellbeing. Alan Beavis headmaster firm but caring, Robert Mcall strict and unwavering, Robert Phipps kind and approachable, the entire staff, priceless. Thank you for the best six years of my life. 1981-1986.
We captured a moment 140 years in the making!
In Term 4, all 1,469 students, together with our dedicated team of staff, came together for a whole-school photograph – our first in a decade, since the 130th anniversary.
This image, soon to be displayed in the School Foyer, stands as a living snapshot of who we are in this milestone year: a community shaped by tradition, carried by connection and looking ahead with purpose.
A rare moment, a shared moment and one we’ll remember for the next generation of St Andrew’s Cathedral School. ... See MoreSee Less

This festive season, our School has been alive with the joyful sounds of Christmas.
Our Junior School and Gawura School students led a beautiful Community Chapel in the Cathedral on Wednesday 3 December, sharing the joy of the season through song and scripture. Their performances were a heartfelt reminder of the wonder and meaning of Christmas.
Herb the Muppet told us about his favourite carol, ‘Hark! The herald angels sing’ and Rev Emma Newling explained the meaning behind it. Our Kindergarten students performed an animated song with pictures and actions, and the whole congregation joined in signing some traditional, festive carols.
Thank you to everyone who joined us in song. May the hope and light of Christmas be with you and your families. ... See MoreSee Less
From peaks to paddles, Year 10 take on the ‘Kosi to Coast’
Beginning on 9 November, 69 of our adventurous Year 10 students set off on a life-changing expedition – our annual 20-day ‘Kosi to Coast’.
This is the pinnacle of our Outdoor Education Programme and it saw them summiting Mount Kosciuszko, hiking through the rugged Pilot Wilderness and white-water rafting down the Snowy River to the Victorian coast.
Physically, mentally and emotionally challenging, this journey pushes limits, builds resilience and fosters deeper friendships and a connection with nature.
At St Andrew’s Cathedral School, our Outdoor Education Programme stands apart, thanks to our dedicated staff who nurture growth from Kindergarten through to Year 10. It’s not just about the destination, it’s about the character forged along the way.
Well done to our Year 10 adventurers on completing this incredible feat! ... See MoreSee Less
