The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) results for our 2024 cohort were released this morning. We are thrilled that our students achieved excellent marks, with the largest number of IBDP students the School has ever had, achieving above 95 and 90 ATAR, and above 40 and 42 overall IB scores (see table below).
Our IBDP Duxes are Rama Chadda-Harmer, Callista Christabel and Ezekiel Surjadinata, who all achieved a stunning score of 44/45. Our median Diploma point score across all students was 38, as compared to a world average of 29. Our median ATAR was 95, and across our 24 subjects and 35 courses, 70% of all grades were a 6 or 7.
For the IBDP, students are required to study six subjects – three at Higher Level (HL) and three at Standard Level (SL), all of which are graded out of 7. They can then receive three additional points for the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge subjects, making a maximum grade point score of 45.
Between 2020 – 2022, the IB Organisation took out some of the examination components and lowered grade boundaries to account for the COVID effect across the world. 2023 was the first year since COVID that students had to sit all of the examination components and were assessed against pre-Covid grade boundaries. To enable comparisons – we have included a table below that show our results against 2019, pre-COVID and last year which was our previous best. It should also be noted that UAC (University Admission Centre) have also made the ATAR conversion harder each year i.e. this year is the hardest it has ever been to achieve above 90, 95 and 99 ATAR. For example, last year an IB score of 34+ was equal to an ATAR of 90+. Whereas this year an IB score of 35+ is equal to a 90+ ATAR, which is a full grades difference.
2019 (pre-Covid conditions) | 2023 | 2024 | |
Median IB Score | 33 | 39 | 38 |
No. students > 90 ATAR | 19 | 39 | 49 |

There is so much to celebrate as a school community. These results are testament to our Director of Learning (IB Diploma) Mrs Sharon Munro, who superbly leads and supports an exemplary team of IB teachers. Thanks also go to Mr Brad Swibel Deputy, Head of School (Secondary), Mr David Lindsay, Head of Senior College, Mrs Sonia Witheridge, Deputy Head of Senior College, as well as Heads of Department, Heads of House, counsellors, tutors, learning coaches, and support and administration staff. We all know that this is a huge team effort that has taken place over many years.
“Finally, many, many congratulations to our IBDP graduates. These are stunning IB Diploma results from a stunningly positive and light-filled cohort.”
“I could not be prouder of you all. As a year group you met every challenge presented to you with grace, composure, and your signature smile! It’s been a privilege to be part of your story. Not only are we proud of your results but we are prouder of who you have become, the character you have crafted, the courage you have displayed and the convictions you have held true to,” said Dr Julie McGonigle, Head of School.
We wish to thank the parents and caregivers of these students. You walked every step of the journey too and they couldn’t have done it without you. It is a pleasure to work in partnership with our wonderful parents and caregivers to enable growth in our young people.
Stay tuned as we cover our HSC results tomorrow.
